1M Summer Term 2019
Summer Term in 1M
We have been working as hard as ever this half term. Take a look at all of our amazing work...
Bug Hotels
For our topic ‘The World Around Us,’ we have been looking at our local environment and all of the plants and animals we share our surroundings with. We thought about how humans don’t always look after the living things around us as much as we should. So, we decided to make bug hotels to look after and protect the bugs on the field this summer. Some of us had different ideas of what a bug hotel should be, but we all used natural resources to make somewhere for them to be. We hope they enjoy staying in them this summer!
Position and Direction
In Maths this term, we have been looking at Position and Direction! We started simple by using the language of ‘underneath,’ ‘on top of,’ and ‘next to’ to describe the position of objects. Then we moved on to giving partners directions to cross and obstacle course in a game of ‘blind robots!’ It was so much fun! We also use Bee-Bots to practice and master our understanding of left and right turns. We worked in mixed ability groups for these activities and watching our language develop across the week was amazing. Mrs Larkins and Miss Campbell were so proud of us!
Owl Sanctuary Trip
We loved our trip to the Owl Sanctuary! It was the rainiest day of the year but that didn’t stop us from having an amazing time and learning lots. It was so exciting seeing all the beautiful birds up close! Whilst we were there, we were lucky enough to see a baby owl that was just 2 weeks old! She was so beautiful and we can’t wait to come back and visit her when she’s older.
