Shelter building at Rendlesham Forest

Year 3 and 4 had an amazing day in the forest thinking what it might have been like to live in the Stone Age period in history. We pretended to be hunters and gatherers and make a fire to cook our food. In the afternoon, we collected materials to make our own forest shelters. We even tested whether they would keep us dry when it rained!

Prehistoric Cave Paintings

We have been exploring cave art. Unfortunately we couldn’t visit the south of France, but check on the link above to go on a virtual tour of the Lascaux Caves.

Art Day: exploring cave art images using charcoal

We enjoyed a theatre performance of Baba Yaga and afterwards followed instructions to make our own Origami Houses. Check out our photos to see the end results!

Baba Yaga Theatre Trip and Workshop

Rocks, Soils and Fossils

In science we have been learning about the different types of natural rocks and how soil is made. We also had an exciting trip to Ipswich museum to see and handle some fossils. We even got to touch a fossil of a mammoth’s tooth.
