As World War 2 is our central topic, we have been diving in to 'The Silver Sword' as our focus text for the first half term. We have been exploring the theme, characters and setting as a stimulus for some creative writing. We have used Oracy to shape our discussions along with text extracts, drama and our own predictions.
We always focus on grammar and have been looking at the role different word classes perform in sentences and have been looking at the effect of subordinated clauses - not just what they are but HOW to use them effectively to control how our writing is read!
Vocabulary always plays a central role for us, we have been learning a wide range of new words - words are not just to know, but to USE!
