Music

Musical education at Handford Hall Primary School aspires to provide children the opportunity to learn, experience and perform using a wide range of musical instruments.

We offer an ever expanding range of performance opportunities to enrich our pupils’ musical experience and to evoke a love for the performing arts.

At our school we teach music in accordance with the National Curriculum and incorporate technology in our lessons to enhance our pupils’ musical learning.  Our staff are focused on providing children with enjoyable musical experiences, nurturing confidence, social awareness and self-esteem.

Music is a very important part of school life. Lessons are typically practical with singing and playing a variety of tuned and un-tuned instruments to develop a broad range of skills.

Children learn to control sounds through singing, playing, rehearsing and performing with others. They develop their own musical ideas through improvising and composing and learn how to appraise music by analysing, talking about and responding to music. Children are given opportunities to listen to a wide variety of different types of music including music from different cultures.
