In-year admissions

Handford Hall Primary School accepts in-year admission applications directly from parents.

An in-year admission application is one that is made outside of the normal time of transfer between schools, for example when a family moves house part way through a school year.

Our school:

  • allocates places on the basis of the published over-subscription criteria
  • informs local authorities of all applications and their outcome
  • informs parents of their right of appeal against the refusal of a place
  • complies with the code
  • participates fully in locally agreed fair access protocols

Apply for a place after the start of the school year

How to apply

  • Complete the form (below)
  • Contact the school office (01473 251 603 or email: schooloffice@handfordhall.omat.org.uk)
  • Visit the school to collect the form

Academy admission appeals

Any applicant refused a place at a maintained school or an academy has a right of appeal to an independent appeal panel established by the admission authority for that school.

Handford Hall Primary School:

  •  allows those making an appeal at least 20 school days from the date of notification that their application was unsuccessful to prepare and lodge their written appeal
  • includes reasonable deadlines for:
    • those making an appeal to submit additional evidence
    • admission authorities to submit their evidence
    • the clerk to send appeal papers to the panel and parties
  • ensures that those making an appeal receive at least 10 school days’ notice of their appeal hearing
  • ensures that decision letters are sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible.
