IPC

Our topic this half-term has been WW2. It has been a fascinating and deeply moving subject and has always been my favourite topic.  The children have taken on the complexities of the subject with great maturity, asking and answering with great insight.  We could have gone on and on. We have looked into:

  • The rise to power of Hitler, and the varied reasons behind his ascent
  • The Geography and changing borders in Europe
  • The local and national impact of the Blitz in Britain
  • The Battle of Britain
  • The ministry of information, the Home Front and wartime Propaganda
  • The Holocaust - the events leading up to it and the terrible, yet vital, lessons we must learn from these events of the past

We have created some incredible writing, maps, posters and discussions - The class have really taken to this topic, they have shown that adults can learn a lot from their thinking.

Standing in the shoes of others

When we studied the Holocaust, we used drama to put ourselves into the shoes of Jewish families.
